Location

The village of Ringstead is ideally placed just four miles from the coastal town of Hunstanton, with its traditional Victorian seaside appeal, famous sunsets and great opportunities for wind and kite surfing (along with plenty of sand to play on and rock pools to explore). Brancaster with its vast sandy beach and the pretty seaside village of Holme-next-the-Sea (which also has a gorgeous beach) are also close by, as Holkham with its popular sandy beach. Within easy driving distance, Holkham offers a great day out where you can follow in the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow and explore the film set of ‘Shakespeare in Love’.

Ringstead Downs is famed for its flora and fauna that bring the chalky grasslands alive with flowers during the warmer months, along with being popular amongst bird watchers with Tichwell Marsh and Snettisham RSPB reserves and also Brancaster Staithe (NT reserve).

Golfers can enjoy a round at the fantastic local courses in Brancaster, Heacham and Old Hunstanton. Fishing enthusiasts will also enjoy the local opportunities which include coarse and sea fishing (either off the beach or from a boat) and also fishing for trout on the River Nar and Wensum).

Sandringham Estate with its royal connections is only fifteen minutes away by car, or visit the historic towns of Fakenham and King’s Lynn which are slightly further away offering a great choice of places for a meal out and shopping opportunities. The area also has its fair share of country houses such as Oxburgh Hall (owned by National Trust) and Holkham (privately owned).

For those who are happy to explore the wider area, Cromer (famous for its crabs) and Sheringham are within an hour's drive (a trip on the Sheringham Steam Railway is a must!); the City of Norwich is just slightly over the hour by car and the magical waterways of the Broads and bustling seaside town of Yarmouth are a little further (but still within easy reach for a great day out!).
